How to Make Your Curios Items Return to Their Slots After Dying
What This Compat Mod Actually Changes
Gravestone normally stores your entire inventory in a grave when you die. Without this compat mod, Curios items (rings, belts, amulets, charms, and similar slot-based trinkets) can end up in the grave as loose items, or get dropped in a way that ignores their Curios slot assignment. With the compat mod installed, Curios items are handled through the Curios system itself, so the grave and the Curios inventory stay in sync.
Steps to Get Your Trinkets Back in the Right Slots
1. Make sure both Gravestone and Curios API are installed alongside this compat mod. The compat mod does nothing on its own.
2. Die once in a test world with a Curios item equipped to confirm behavior before relying on it in a real playthrough.
3. After respawning, walk to your grave and open it. Curios items should be present and, when retrieved, should return to their proper Curios slots rather than sitting in your main inventory.
4. If an item lands in your main inventory instead, open the Curios inventory screen and drag it into the correct slot manually.
5. Check your Curios slots immediately after looting the grave — some setups require you to re-equip manually if the slot was occupied by something else at the moment of retrieval.
If Items Are Missing
Confirm the compat mod is loaded (it should appear in your mod list). If Curios items still drop as normal items, the compat layer is not active and you should verify load order and that all three mods are present.
