Fixing Curios Items Not Going Into Your Grave
Symptom
You die, a grave spawns, but your rings, amulets, or belts are not inside it — they are either gone, dropped on the ground separately, or stuck somewhere unexpected.
Causes and Fixes
1. Compat mod not loaded. Check your mod list. If Gravestone X Curios API Compat is missing or failed to load, Gravestone has no idea how to handle Curios slots. Re-add it and restart.
2. Curios API missing or mismatched. The compat mod needs Curios API present. If Curios is absent, Curios items cannot exist in slots at all, so there is nothing for the compat layer to route.
3. Grave already looted or expired. Graves can despawn or be emptied by other players. Confirm the grave still exists and has not been opened.
4. Item was never equipped. Only items actually sitting in Curios slots are handled as equipped. Items loose in your backpack are treated as normal inventory and follow normal grave rules.
5. Slot conflict at retrieval. If the Curios slot is occupied when you loot the grave, the item may be pushed to main inventory. Clear the slot first, then loot.
Verification
Run a controlled test: equip one Curios item, die in a safe area, respawn, and loot the grave. If the item returns to its slot, the compat layer is working. If not, re-check that all three mods are present and loading without errors.
