Google Chat Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I set which language my messages translate to?
Open the mod's configuration menu (usually accessible from the main settings or by pressing a configurable hotkey) and select your target language from the dropdown list. Save your changes and the mod will translate all outgoing messages to that language automatically.
Can I translate messages from other players without them knowing?
Yes. The mod translates incoming messages on your client only, so other players see their messages in their original language—only you see the translated version on your screen.
What happens if I send a message in a language the mod doesn't support?
The mod will attempt to translate it using Google Translate's available language pairs. If the source language isn't recognized, the message may not translate correctly or will be sent as-is; check the mod's supported language list in the configuration.
Does Google Chat Mod work on servers that don't have the mod installed?
Yes. Since it's a client-side mod, it works on any server—the server doesn't need to have it installed. Your messages will be translated before sending, and incoming messages will be translated after receiving.
Why are some of my messages not translating?
Check that the mod is enabled in your config, you have an internet connection (Google Translate requires it), and the target language is correctly selected. If translation still fails, verify the mod is compatible with your Minecraft version and that no conflicting mods are interfering.
Can I turn off translation for specific chat channels or commands?
This depends on the mod's configuration options—some versions allow you to whitelist or blacklist certain message types. Check your config file to see if selective translation filtering is available.
Does the mod translate chat in GUIs, signs, or books?
The mod primarily translates in-game chat messages. Translation of text on signs, books, or GUI elements depends on the specific mod version—check the configuration to see what text types are covered.
Will using this mod slow down my game?
The mod has minimal performance impact since translation happens asynchronously in the background. You may notice a slight delay before translated messages appear, but it shouldn't affect gameplay frame rates.
How do I temporarily stop translating without uninstalling the mod?
Open the mod's configuration menu and disable translation, or set the target language to your native language. You can re-enable it anytime without reinstalling.
What should I do if the mod crashes or stops translating?
Restart your game first. If the problem persists, check that you have an active internet connection, update the mod to the latest version, and verify it's compatible with your current Minecraft version and other installed mods.
