Golem Magicka Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I get started with making a spellcasting golem?
First, you need to have ModularGolems installed and craft a basic golem using that mod. Once you have a golem, use the command wand from Iron's Spells n Spellbooks to point at it—if the mod is working, you'll see mana and spell information displayed on your screen.
What's the difference between the golem materials and which should I use?
Each material offers different mana pools and refill speeds: regular golems are basic, gold and netherite are mid-tier with faster refills, sculk specializes in eldritch spells, and pyrium is the strongest with the highest mana and fastest refills. Choose based on what spells you want to cast and how often you need them to attack.
Can I use any spell from Iron's Spells n Spellbooks on my golem?
No, the mod blocks certain spells to maintain game balance. Your golem can only cast an approved subset of spells, which you can check by pointing the command wand at it to see its spell configuration.
How do dog variants work and why would I use them?
Dog variants have extra mana capacity and share their magical energy with players who ride them, making them useful for keeping yourself and your golem powered up during combat. They function as both defenders and mobile mana batteries.
Why isn't my golem casting spells?
Check three things: does it have mana (use the command wand to see its current mana), is it on cooldown between attacks, and does it have valid targets nearby? If mana is full but it's not attacking, it may still be waiting for its cooldown timer to expire.
How long does it take for a golem to regenerate its mana?
Mana refill speed varies by material—regular golems take around 50 seconds for a full refill, while gold and netherite refill much faster, and pyrium refills at double speed. Sculk refills at the same speed as gold.
Can I see what spells my golem knows before I summon it?
No, you need to place the golem first and then use the command wand to point at it and read its spell configuration from the screen display.
Does this mod work with other golem mods besides ModularGolems?
Golem Magicka Mod is designed as an extension of ModularGolems specifically, so compatibility with other golem mods is not guaranteed. Stick with ModularGolems for the intended experience.
What happens if I want a golem that casts really powerful spells?
Use a pyrium golem—it has the highest mana pool, strongest spell scaling, and fastest refill speed, making it ideal for casting powerful spells repeatedly. Alternatively, pair a sculk golem with eldritch spells to get a 40% damage boost on those specific spells.
Can I change which spells a golem uses after I've built it?
The mod doesn't provide a direct spell-swapping mechanic in-game; your golem's spells are determined by its material type and configuration. If you want different spells, you'll need to build a new golem with a different material.
