Glowing Animated Ores Resource Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Do I need to do anything after installing the pack or does it work right away?
The pack works immediately after installation—just load a world and ores will glow automatically. Make sure your resource pack is enabled in your world settings and positioned above any conflicting packs.
Why can't I see the glow effect on ores?
Check that emissive textures are enabled in your video settings (this is usually on by default). If you're using a shader mod, some shaders may override or dim the glow—try disabling shaders temporarily to confirm the effect is working.
Does this work with other resource packs?
Yes, but placement matters: put this pack higher in your resource pack list than packs it might conflict with. If another pack also modifies ore textures, the one listed higher will take priority.
Will the glowing ores affect my FPS or cause lag?
The glow effect has minimal performance impact on most systems since it uses emissive textures rather than actual light sources. If you experience lag, try disabling animated textures in your video settings or lowering your render distance.
Do the glowing effects work underwater and in caves?
Yes—that's one of the main features. Ores glow clearly even in dark caves, underwater, and when affected by the Darkness effect from the Warden.
Are deepslate ores included or just normal ores?
Both normal and deepslate ores glow, so you'll see the effect whether you're mining in the overworld or deep underground.
Do items in my inventory glow too or just blocks in the world?
Both—ores and metals glow as blocks in the world, and shiny items like ingots, gems, and magic items (ender pearls, experience bottles) also glow when you're holding them or they're in your inventory.
Does this pack work in the Nether?
Yes, Nether-specific blocks like ancient debris, gilded blackstone, nether gold ore, and quartz all have glowing effects so you can spot them easily.
Can I turn off the glow for specific ores or items?
This pack doesn't include built-in toggles for individual blocks, but you can create a custom version by editing the resource pack files if you're comfortable with that.
Does this work with mods that add new ores?
Only if those mods' ores use standard Minecraft textures—the pack only affects vanilla ores and blocks. Modded ores will need their own glowing textures from a separate resource pack.
