Glow Up FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to do anything after installing Glow Up or does it work automatically?
Glow Up works automatically once installed—ores will glow in your world right away. You don't need to enable it in settings or run any commands.
Why aren't my ores glowing?
Make sure you have Emissive Textures enabled in your video settings (usually under Graphics or Quality). If ores still don't glow, check that Glow Up is loaded after any other texture packs that modify stone or ore textures.
Can I use Glow Up with my favorite texture pack?
Yes—Glow Up is designed to layer on top of packs that change stone block textures. Load Glow Up after your other texture pack in your resource pack list so the glow effect applies to your customized ores.
How do I make ores glow brighter or dimmer?
You can customize glow brightness by editing the emissive texture files in the pack. The guide 'Customize Glow Colors and Brightness' walks through which files to modify for different ores.
Does Glow Up work with modded ores?
Glow Up includes built-in support for popular mods like Mekanism, Immersive Engineering, Mystical Agriculture, and many others. Modded ores from supported mods will glow automatically.
What if my mod's ores aren't glowing?
Glow Up may not have textures for every mod. You can create custom glowing textures by editing the resource pack files, or check if the mod author has released a compatibility patch.
Does Glow Up work in the Nether and End?
Yes, glowing ores appear in all dimensions including modded dimensions like the Aether and Alex's Caves.
Will Glow Up slow down my game?
Glow Up has minimal performance impact since it only changes textures. If you experience lag, make sure Emissive Textures isn't set too high in your graphics settings.
Can I change which ores glow or turn off glowing for specific blocks?
Yes—you can edit the resource pack to remove or modify emissive textures for individual ores. The pack is designed to be easy to customize by changing image files.
Does Glow Up work with shaders?
Glow Up works best with shaders that support emissive textures. Some shader packs may render the glow differently, so test with your specific shader to see the effect you prefer.
