How to Check and Change the Global Narration Setting Outside the Game
Where the Setting Lives
The mod reads the narration value from the global options file inside your .minecraft folder. This is the same file Minecraft uses for other global preferences, and the mod updates it automatically whenever you change the narrator in-game.
Editing It Manually
1. Close Minecraft completely so the file is not locked or overwritten on exit.
2. Open your .minecraft folder and locate the global options file.
3. Find the narration entry and set it to your preferred state (on or off).
4. Save the file and relaunch the game.
On the next launch, the mod will read this value: with narration on, the accessibility onboarding screen appears; with it off, the screen is skipped.
Cautions
- Editing the file while the game is running can cause your change to be overwritten when the game saves options.
- The in-game Accessibility Settings menu is the safest way to change this, since the mod handles the file update for you.
- If you are unsure which line controls narration, change it through the game menu instead of guessing — an incorrect edit could affect other accessibility options.
