Giant Spawn Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I make giant zombies spawn more often?
Open the config file at .minecraft/config/giantspawn-common.toml and raise the chanceSurfaceZombieIsGiant value toward 1.0. Higher values mean a larger share of surface zombies become giants, so even small increases are noticeable.
How do I turn giant zombies off completely?
Set chanceSurfaceZombieIsGiant to 0 in the config file. This makes it impossible for any surface zombie to spawn as a giant, effectively disabling the mod's spawns without uninstalling it.
Why aren't any giants spawning in my world?
Check that chanceSurfaceZombieIsGiant isn't set to 0 and that onlySpawnGiantOnSurface matches where you're looking, since giants won't appear underground if that option is true. Also remember giants only replace normal surface zombie spawns, so you still need valid zombie spawning conditions like darkness and a loaded chunk.
Do giants spawn underground or in caves?
By default they don't, because onlySpawnGiantOnSurface is set to true. Change it to false in the config if you want giants to be able to spawn underground alongside regular zombies.
Why do my giants keep burning up during the day?
Giants inherit zombie sunlight burning by default, controlled by shouldBurnGiantsInDaylight. Set that option to false in the config to make them immune to daylight.
How do I stop giants from burning in sunlight?
Open giantspawn-common.toml and set shouldBurnGiantsInDaylight to false. After that, giants will survive in direct sunlight just like they do at night.
Do config changes apply to my existing world or do I need a new one?
Config changes apply to the world you're playing in, but they only affect newly spawned giants. Giants that already exist keep the behavior they spawned with, so you may need to wait for new spawns or reload the world to see the effect.
Are giants just big zombies or do they behave differently?
They use a modified version of the zombie AI, so they're more functional and dangerous than a scaled-up zombie. Expect them to path toward you and attack rather than stand around like the old unused giant.
How do I fight a giant zombie without dying?
Keep your distance and use ranged weapons or hit-and-run tactics, since a giant's reach and damage are much higher than a normal zombie's. Avoid fighting one in the open during the day if it can burn, and use terrain or blocks to break its pathing.
Will this mod conflict with other zombie or mob mods?
It only changes how surface zombies are chosen at spawn, so mods that add new zombie types or overhaul spawning may compete with it. If giants stop appearing after adding another spawn-modifying mod, check load order and whether that mod overrides zombie spawns.
