How to Farm Crying Obsidian from Ghasts

Setting Up Your Ghast Farm

To efficiently obtain crying obsidian, you'll need to create a controlled environment where ghasts can be lured to an activated Nether portal.

First, construct a Nether portal in the Nether using obsidian blocks. Ensure it's in an area where ghasts naturally spawn or where you can funnel them. Activate the portal by lighting it with flint and steel.

Luring and Defeating Ghasts

Ghasts are attracted to players and will attack when provoked. Position yourself near the activated portal and engage ghasts in combat. Use ranged weapons like bows or crossbows to damage them while they're positioned over or within the portal frame.

When a ghast dies while touching the portal, the entire structure will shatter. All obsidian blocks from the portal will convert into crying obsidian and drop as items.

Collecting Your Drops

Gather the crying obsidian blocks that fall. You can then use these for decoration, crafting, or other purposes. Note that you'll need to rebuild your portal for subsequent runs, making this a renewable but labor-intensive method of obtaining crying obsidian.
