Comparing Crying Obsidian Acquisition Methods
Ghastly Wail Mod vs. Other Methods
Traditionally, crying obsidian can only be obtained through piglin bartering or found in loot chests in the Nether. The Ghastly Wail Mod introduces a third, active method.
Piglin Bartering: Requires gold ingots and RNG. Reliable but resource-dependent.
Loot Chests: Passive collection while exploring. Limited supply per world.
Ghast Farming: Requires portal setup and ghast combat. Renewable and repeatable.
Advantages of Ghast Farming
This method is renewable—you can farm as much crying obsidian as you can obtain obsidian for rebuilding portals. It's also more interactive than chest looting and doesn't require bartering resources.
Trade-offs
Ghast farming requires more setup and effort per crying obsidian block compared to passive methods. You must actively engage in combat and rebuild portals repeatedly. For small quantities, bartering or chest looting may be more efficient.
