How to Make Items Combine From Farther Away to Reduce Lag
One of the main reasons to install Get It Together Drops is to cut down on the number of item entities in your world. After a big explosion, a mob farm harvest, or a tree farm cycle, you can end up with hundreds of separate items lying on the ground. The mod lets you increase the radius in which items look for others to merge with.
Changing the Radius Setting
Open the mod's configuration file or in-game config menu. Find the Radius option. This value controls how far an item will search for another item to combine with. The default vanilla behavior is a very small radius, meaning items basically have to be touching. You can raise this value up to a maximum of 500 blocks.
A good starting point for most players is somewhere between 2 and 8
blocks. This lets items that land near each other merge quickly without pulling in items from across a large area. If you are cleaning up after a massive explosion, you might temporarily set it higher.
Performance Tips
Higher radius values mean the game checks more entities each tick, so there is a trade-off. If you set it too high, you may actually increase lag because of all the distance checks. Test different values in your specific setup and watch your entity count with the F3 debug screen.
