Geopolitical Radar Extension Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I get town claims to show up on my map?
The mod automatically fetches live EarthMC Towny data when you load a world on an EarthMC server. Town claims should appear as colored overlays on both your minimap and world map within a few seconds of joining. If nothing appears, check that you're on an EarthMC-compatible server and that the mod is enabled in your Xaero's settings.
Can I change the colors of town borders and fills?
Yes, the mod includes customization options in its config file where you can adjust border line colors, fill transparency, and nation-specific color schemes. You can also set different colors for allied, neutral, and enemy nations to make political relationships easier to read at a glance.
Why aren't player markers showing up near me?
Player markers only display for players within a certain range of your position and only if the server is broadcasting that data. Check that player tracking is enabled in the mod settings, and note that some servers may have privacy restrictions that prevent real-time player location sharing.
How do I add my own custom map overlays like state borders?
Drop a GeoJSON file into the mod's config folder, and it will automatically load as an overlay layer on your map. The mod supports standard GeoJSON format, so you can use existing regional boundary files or create your own with any GeoJSON editor.
Does this mod work with other minimap mods?
This mod is built as an extension for Xaero's Minimap and Xaero's World Map specifically, so it requires those mods to function. It should not conflict with other non-Xaero minimap mods, but running multiple minimap mods simultaneously may cause performance issues.
Can I zoom out far enough to see the entire EarthMC world at once?
Yes, the mod unlocks additional zoom levels on the world map beyond Xaero's default limits, allowing you to view the full globe. This is useful for planning large-scale nation expansion and understanding global political geography.
What does the circular line around towns mean?
That circle represents the town's join range—the distance from the town center within which players can join the town. It helps you understand how far a town's influence extends for recruitment purposes.
Is the map data updated in real-time or does it lag behind the server?
The mod pulls live data from the EarthMC server, so updates appear within a few seconds of changes happening in-game. Large-scale border changes or new town claims will reflect on your map almost immediately.
Why is my game stuttering when I open the world map?
Rendering many town claims and custom overlays at once can impact performance, especially at high zoom levels. Try disabling nation borders or reducing the number of active GeoJSON overlays, and ensure your graphics settings aren't maxed out.
How do I know which nation a town belongs to?
Towns are color-coded by nation, and hovering over a town claim or checking the town info panel will display the nation name and leader. Nation capitals are marked with a special star icon to help you identify political centers quickly.
