Geophilic Data Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Does Geophilic work with other world-gen mods or data packs?
It generally works alongside most other data packs, but it can conflict with any pack that also edits vanilla Overworld biome files, since both try to change the same biomes. If you use another biome-editing pack, test them together in a fresh world first and remove one if you see missing or broken features.
Do I need to create a new world for Geophilic to take effect?
Yes, biome and feature changes only apply to chunks generated after the data pack is enabled. Existing chunks keep their old terrain, so you must explore new areas or start a fresh world to see the added features.
Why can't I find any fallen trees, boulders, or stumps in my world?
These features only appear in newly generated chunks, so if you're exploring near your spawn or old builds you likely won't see them. Travel far enough that the game generates fresh terrain, and check biomes like forests and taigas where these features are most common.
How do I know if Geophilic is actually working?
The clearest sign is finding its signature features, like fallen logs, tree stumps, boulders, bushes, and moss patches, in newly explored terrain. If you've traveled into fresh chunks and see none of these, the pack may not be enabled or may be conflicting with another pack.
Does Geophilic add any new blocks, items, or biomes?
Can I use Geophilic on a server with friends?
Yes, but the data pack must be installed on the server itself, not just on each player's client. Players connecting to the server don't need the pack locally to see the generated features.
Will Geophilic break my existing builds or farms?
No, it doesn't modify already-generated chunks, so existing builds and farms stay exactly as they are. Only terrain generated after the pack is enabled will include the new features.
Does Geophilic affect performance or cause lag?
It's a lightweight data pack that only changes world generation, so it has little impact on normal gameplay. You may notice slightly longer chunk generation when exploring brand-new terrain, but this is usually minor.
Can I remove Geophilic later without breaking my world?
Yes, you can disable or remove it at any time, and your existing world will still load normally. Features already generated stay in place, but no new ones will appear in chunks generated after removal.
Where do Geophilic's new features show up most often?
They're spread across vanilla Overworld biomes, with fallen trees, stumps, and bushes common in forested areas and boulders appearing in a range of biomes. Exploring different biome types in fresh terrain is the best way to see the full variety.
