How to Use a Gate Pearl to Start a Gateway

Placing the Pearl

Hold a Gate Pearl and right-click it against a solid surface to open a Gateway. The Gateway is the portal-like entity that spawns the waves, so place it somewhere you can move freely around it — an open field, an arena, or a cleared room. Once it opens, the encounter begins and mobs start spawning in waves.

What to Expect

A Gateway runs through a set of waves. Each wave spawns a group of mobs, and you must defeat them before the next wave appears. The Gateway itself is the thing you are defending against — it keeps producing enemies until the encounter ends. When you clear the final wave, the Gateway closes and drops its rewards.

Practical Tips

• Fight near the Gateway, not far from it, so you can react to each new wave.
• Bring a weapon with good area damage; waves often contain several mobs at once.
• Keep healing items in your hotbar before you place the Pearl, since you cannot easily pause mid-encounter.
• If you die, the encounter is lost — set up your arena and gear first, then place the Pearl.
