How to Fix a Setting That Won't Save or Keeps Resetting

Check Whether the Setting Is Server-Controlled

On multiplayer, a value that reverts the moment you close the screen is usually server-authoritative. The server sends its value back to you, overwriting your local edit. If you are not an operator, you cannot change it. If you are, make the change and confirm it propagates rather than being reverted.

Check the File and the Range

Fzzy Config stores settings in TOML files. If a value refuses to stick:

1. Close the game or disconnect fully so the file is not locked.

2. Locate the mod's config file in the config directory.

3. Open it in a plain text editor and check that your value is actually written there.

4. Verify the value is within the allowed range; out-of-range values may be silently corrected on load.

5. Check for duplicate keys or a second config file for the same mod left over from an older setup.

Other Common Causes

  • Another mod or a datapack is overriding the same setting.
  • The setting only applies on world load, so it appears to reset until you rejoin.
  • You edited the wrong file, such as a client file when the setting is server-side.

After fixing the file, reload the world and reopen the config screen to confirm the value held.
