How to Create Scrolling Textures for Conveyor Belts and Effects

Preparing the Scroll Strip

A scrolling texture is an image that Fusion animates by shifting it over time. Draw your texture as a seamless tileable strip — for a conveyor belt, a repeating pattern of treads works well. Save it as a normal PNG in your block texture folder, then add a .properties file beside it.

Configuring Direction and Speed

In the properties file, enable the scrolling feature and set the scroll direction. Fusion supports horizontal, vertical, and diagonal scrolling, so you can angle a belt or make lava-like flows move sideways. Speed is controlled by how many pixels the texture shifts per tick or frame — a small shift looks slow and smooth, a larger shift looks fast. Keep the shift an even divisor of your texture width or height so the loop stays seamless.

Applying It to a Block

Point the block's model at your scrolling texture. Because Fusion handles the animation at the texture level, any block using that texture will scroll, including custom conveyor blocks from other mods. Test with F3+T and watch for a visible jump when the animation loops; if you see one, your strip is not perfectly tileable or the shift amount does not divide evenly into the texture size.
