Fungal Infection Spore Infnexus Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I find a Fungal Nexus core?
Nexus cores are stationary structures anchored to specific locations in your world and will be actively spreading fungal corruption outward in an expanding radius. Look for areas with unusual terrain deformation, glowing fungal biomass, and infected mobs congregating around a central dark structure—these are signs a core is nearby.
What happens if I ignore a Nexus and don't fight back?
The Nexus will progress through infection phases, each one accelerating terrain corruption, spawning more infected mobs, and eventually launching coordinated large-scale attacks on your base. The corrupted zone will continue expanding outward until you either destroy the core or push it back by defeating infected mobs and maintaining CDU pressure.
Do I have to destroy the Nexus or can I just contain it?
You can choose either approach: contain it by maintaining at least four active CDUs within 20 blocks to keep its shield disabled and prevent phase progression, or destroy it completely by attacking the vulnerable core once the shield is down. Containment requires ongoing maintenance, while destruction is permanent.
Why does the Nexus shield keep coming back?
If your active CDU count drops below four or any CDUs fall outside the 20-block range, the Nexus will restore its invulnerable protection shields. Make sure all four CDUs remain powered and positioned correctly around the core at all times.
How do I lower the Nexus power level?
Defeat infected mobs spawned inside the Nexus territory—each kill drains the core's power and pushes it toward a lower phase. Maintaining steady combat pressure will also suspend the Nexus attack systems temporarily, giving you breathing room to set up defenses.
What are the four infection phases and what do they do?
Phase I (Capture) starts slow expansion, Phase II (Hunt) applies active pressure and guards territory, Phase III (Expand) accelerates terrain spread and mob spawns, and Phase IV (Siege) takes full regional control with coordinated large-scale attacks. Each phase is triggered by the core reaching higher power thresholds.
Can I customize how aggressive the Nexus is?
Yes, the config/infnexus-common.toml file contains settings for all major systems, phase power thresholds, and CDU requirements, allowing you to adjust difficulty and behavior to your preference.
What terrain changes should I expect from a Nexus?
The Nexus converts nearby ground, water, and plants into living fungal biomass and reshapes terrain into mounds, hills, cracks, and craters filled with bile. It also spawns unique fungal biomes with custom flora and structures based on your world seed.
Do different Nexus cores have different power levels?
Each Nexus core tracks an individual Power value that determines its current phase and behavior, so cores can progress at different rates depending on how much you've engaged with them. The core's power is the main mechanic controlling how dangerous it becomes.
Can I have multiple Nexus cores in one world?
Yes, the mod can spawn multiple infection cores in a single world, each with its own independent Power value and expansion territory. You'll need to manage and contain or destroy each one separately.
