Full Brightness Resource Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

What does the Full Brightness Resource Pack actually do?
It raises the light level rendering so every area appears fully lit, similar to a permanent night vision effect. This means caves, nights, and unlit rooms stay visible without placing torches.
How do I turn on full brightness after installing the pack?
Select the pack in your resource pack list and make sure it sits above any other packs that change lighting or textures. Then load into your world; the brightness applies automatically with no in-game toggle needed.
Why is my game still dark even with the pack enabled?
Another resource pack is likely overriding it, so move Full Brightness to the top of your pack list. Also check that your brightness slider isn't fighting the effect and that you're not in a dimension or modded area with custom lighting.
Does full brightness work in the Nether and End?
Yes, the pack brightens those dimensions the same way it does the Overworld. Fog and ambient effects may still limit how far you can see, but nearby terrain stays lit.
Will full brightness stop mobs from spawning?
No, it only changes how light looks to you, not the actual light level the game uses for spawning. Mobs can still spawn in genuinely dark areas even though they look bright on your screen.
Can I use this pack on a server or with friends?
Yes, resource packs are client-side, so you can use it on any server without others needing it. Only your own view changes; other players see normal lighting.
Does full brightness hurt my FPS or performance?
It generally has little to no performance impact since it only changes lighting rendering, not world generation. If you notice lag, it's more likely from other packs or mods running alongside it.
Why do caves look flat or lose their mood with full brightness?
Removing shadows eliminates depth cues, which can make caves feel less atmospheric. If you want some mood back, use a less aggressive brightness pack or toggle it off for builds where lighting matters.
Can I combine full brightness with shaders?
Shaders often handle lighting themselves and may override or conflict with the pack. Try loading the pack above or below your shader setup to see which order works, and expect the shader's lighting to take priority.
Is there a way to toggle full brightness on and off quickly?
The pack has no built-in hotkey, so the usual method is enabling or disabling it in the resource pack menu. Some players keep two pack configurations or use a mod that swaps packs for faster toggling.
