How to Set Up FTB Obsidian for a Modpack You Are Building
What the Mod Is For
FTB Obsidian is a utility mod aimed at modpack creators. It manages how resource packs and datapacks are loaded so you can ship a consistent experience without relying on players to configure anything themselves.
Your Setup Workflow
Start by deciding which resource packs must always be on. Place those packs either in the resourcepacks folder or in the root game directory, then register their IDs in ftbobsidian-startup.snbt. Use the forced list for packs everyone should get, and the compatibility override list only for packs that fail the version check but still work.
Next, gather any datapacks that should apply globally and drop them into the root folder the mod reads. These load automatically for every world, so you do not need to bundle them into each save.
Testing Before Release
Launch a fresh world and check three things: the forced resource packs are enabled, the overridden packs load without being greyed out, and /datapack list shows your global datapacks. Fix any ID typos in the config, since a wrong ID fails silently. Because everything is driven from the startup config and root folders, your pack behaves identically on every install.
