How to Force a Resource Pack to Load Automatically in FTB Obsidian

Why Force a Pack

Normally Minecraft only remembers the resource packs a player manually enables. In a modpack you often want a specific pack active for everyone without asking them to toggle it. FTB Obsidian handles this at startup through its config file.

Editing the Startup Config

Open ftbobsidian-startup.snbt in your instance's config folder. Inside you will find a section for forced resource packs where you list pack IDs. Each entry is the identifier Minecraft uses for that pack, not the display name.

Add the ID of the pack you want forced. You can reference a pack either by its file (a .zip sitting in the resourcepacks folder) or by a folder placed in the root game directory. The mod reads these entries before the game finishes loading, so the pack is applied without any player interaction.

Checking It Worked

Launch the game and open the resource pack screen. The forced pack should already be active and positioned in the enabled list. If it is not, double-check that the ID string matches the pack's actual identifier exactly, since a typo means the entry is silently ignored. Remember that forced packs still obey normal pack ordering, so a higher pack can override its contents.
