How to Auto-Load Datapacks from the Game Folder with FTB Obsidian

Datapacks Without the World Folder

By default a datapack must be dropped into a specific world's datapacks folder, which is awkward for modpacks that want the same datapacks everywhere. FTB Obsidian adds support for loading datapacks placed in the root game folders instead.

Placing Your Datapacks

Put the datapack .zip files or unpacked datapack folders into the location the mod watches in the root game directory. Because the mod scans this at startup, the datapacks are registered automatically — no per-world copying and no manual /datapack enable command needed.

This is ideal for packs that ship global tweaks such as recipe changes, loot table edits, or custom tags that should apply to every world a player creates.

Verifying and Troubleshooting

After launching, run /datapack list in a world. Your datapacks should appear in the enabled list. If one is missing, confirm it is a valid datapack with a proper pack.mcmeta and data folder, and that it sits in the correct root location rather than inside a world save. Datapacks that fail to parse are skipped quietly, so an invalid pack simply will not show up.
