How to Use FTB Materials Dusts in Tech Crafting
Dust Types and Sources
FTB Materials adds several dust variants: Dirty Dust, regular Dust, and material-specific dusts like Aluminum Dust, Antimony Dust, Apatite Dust, and Bauxite Dust. Dirty Dust is the first stage after macerating raw ore. It contains impurities and must be washed or processed further. Regular Dust is clean and ready for smelting or advanced crafting.
Processing Dirty Dust
To clean Dirty Dust, you typically need a washing machine, cauldron, or chemical bath, depending on your tech mods. Place the Dirty Dust into the machine with water or a cleaning agent. The output is clean Dust plus a small chance of byproducts. These byproducts can include trace amounts of other metals or gems, so always collect them.
Crafting with Dusts
Clean Dusts are used in several ways. You can smelt them into ingots, combine them with other dusts to create alloys, or use them directly in crafting recipes for wires, plates, and gears. Some machines accept dusts directly for processing, skipping the ingot stage entirely. Apatite Dust, for example, may be used in fertilizer recipes or as a crafting component for wires. Bauxite Dust is often processed into Aluminum Dust through additional refining steps. Always check your recipe viewer to see which dusts are interchangeable and which are material-specific.
