How to Craft Plates, Rods, Gears, and Wires from Ingots

Required Machines

FTB Materials ingots are not just for storage blocks. They are intermediate crafting components used across many tech mods. To convert ingots into shaped parts, you typically need a metal former, rolling machine, or similar device from your tech modpack. Each machine has specific molds or modes for plates, rods, gears, and wires.

Step-by-Step Conversion

Start with an ingot of the material you need, such as Aluminum, Brass, Bronze, or Antimony. Place the ingot into your forming machine and select the appropriate mode. A single ingot usually produces one plate or two rods, though ratios vary by machine and material. Gears often require multiple ingots or a combination of plates and rods.

Wires are produced similarly but may require a wiremill or extruder. Aluminum Wire and Antimony Wire are common in FTB Materials and are used for energy transmission or crafting recipes in other mods. If your machine does not support a specific shape, check whether a crafting table recipe exists as a fallback. Some shapes can be made by hand with a hammer and file, though this is slower and may consume more material.

Always keep a stock of each shape on hand. Plates and rods are used constantly in machine frames, circuits, and structural components.
