How to Survive Your First Night in a Frostiful Frozen Biome

Understand the Freezing Meter

Frostiful adds a temperature system on top of vanilla. When you enter a cold biome, a freezing meter builds up on your HUD. Once it fills, you start taking frostbite damage and eventually freeze to death. The meter drains when you stand near a heat source, so your first priority is finding or making warmth.

Immediate Steps

1. Craft a Frozen Torch as soon as you can — it provides light and a small heat radius, letting you warm up while you work.

2. Build a small shelter and place a campfire, furnace, or lava source inside. Standing near any of these drains your freezing meter.

3. Wear Fur Padding and craft Fur Boots, Fur Pants, Fur Hood, and a Fur Cloak. Each piece slows how fast the meter fills. The full set is the difference between life and death on long trips.

4. Keep a stack of Frozen Torches on you to drop a heat source mid-journey.

5. Avoid swimming in cold water — it accelerates freezing dramatically.

What to Avoid Early

Do not wander far from your shelter until you have fur gear. Biters and Chillagers spawn in these biomes and will punish a freezing, slowed player. If your meter is climbing and you have no heat source, retreat to your base rather than pushing forward.
