How to Deal with Biters, Chillagers, and Freezing Wind
Know the Threats
Frostiful adds several hostile mobs to frozen biomes:
- Biter — a fast melee mob that ambushes you in the cold.
- Chillager — an illager variant that throws ice projectiles and guards structures.
- Freezing Wind — an environmental hazard that rapidly fills your freezing meter.
- Frost Spell, Packed Snowball, Thrown Icicle, Glacial Arrow — projectile attacks from these mobs and the Frostologer.
Countering Each
Biters: Fight them in the open where you can see them coming. They are dangerous when you are already slowed by cold, so keep your freezing meter low. A shield blocks their bites.
Chillagers: Break line of sight to avoid their projectiles, then close distance and melee. They often guard castles, so clear them before exploring.
Freezing Wind: This is not a mob you can kill — it is an area effect. Retreat to a heat source (campfire, Frozen Torch, lava) immediately when it hits. Do not try to outrun it in the open.
General Survival Rules
- Always carry a heat source and fur armor into cold biomes.
- Fight near warmth so you can reset your meter between waves.
- Use frost weapons to slow attackers and control the pace of combat.
- If your freezing meter is high and enemies are closing in, disengage and warm up rather than fighting at a disadvantage.
