Frontier Command Redefined Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I open the unit overview screen?
Press the U key to open the full unit overview screen. From here you can see all your hired units, manage their assignments, check their inventories, and organize them into squads.
What's the guard horn and how do I use it?
The guard horn is a toggleable item that lets you quickly adjust the behavior modes of nearby hired fighters without opening menus. Activate it to cycle through guard states for all units in range.
Can I give my hired units to another player?
Yes, you can transfer individual hired squads or entire companies directly to other players using the transfer commands or the unit overview screen. Both players must be online and in range for the transfer to work.
Why do my mounted units keep taking fall damage or suffocating?
This mod fixes the vanilla bug where mounted riders and wargs would suffocate inside blocks or take excessive fall damage. If you're still experiencing this, make sure the mod is fully loaded and check that you're not using conflicting mods.
What new building blocks does this mod add?
The mod adds vertical slabs, wool slabs, bark slabs, and beam slabs for decoration and building. It also introduces bark walls, bark stairs, and dedicated bark blocks to expand your building palette.
How do I adjust how fast my mounts move?
The mod includes custom mount speed settings that you can configure. Check the mod's configuration file or in-game settings menu to adjust mount speed values for different unit types.
Do hired units show health bars, and can I customize them?
Yes, the mod displays clean health bar displays for your hired units. The health bars are designed to be clear and unobtrusive, and appearance settings may be available in the mod configuration.
What server commands does this mod add?
The mod introduces helpful server commands for managing units and squads, including commands to transfer units, check unit status, and manage squad assignments. Use /help in chat to see the full list of available commands.
Is this mod compatible with other Lord of the Rings mods?
This mod is designed as an extension to The Lord of The Rings Mod Legacy, so it works best with that version. Compatibility with other LOTR mod versions or forks may vary; check the mod's documentation for known conflicts.
My units aren't responding to the guard horn—what's wrong?
Make sure the units are hired and within range of the guard horn's effect. Also verify that the units aren't in a state where they can't receive commands (such as during combat or if they're assigned to a specific task that locks their behavior).
