If you need to damage one of your own pets—for example, to heal it with a potion or adjust its behavior—you can temporarily disable protection.

How to Attack a Protected Pet

The easiest method is to sneak while attacking. Hold down your sneak key (default: Shift) and strike the pet with your weapon or fist. The protection will be bypassed for that single attack, allowing you to damage the pet normally.

This is useful when:

• You're trying to heal a pet with a splash potion and need it to take damage first
• You want to move a pet away from a dangerous area by hitting it
• You're testing damage values or mechanics

Permanent Configuration Changes

If you want to disable protection for certain pet types entirely, check your mod's configuration file. You can typically whitelist or blacklist specific mobs, or disable baby animal immunity if needed. Configuration options vary by mod version, so consult your config folder for available settings.

Remember: sneaking is the quickest in-game solution for one-off situations.
