Friendly Fire Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Do I need to do anything to activate the mod after installing it?
No, the mod works automatically once installed. All your tamed pets are protected by default as soon you load your world.
How do I attack a pet that's protected?
Hold sneak (default Shift) while attacking to bypass the protection on that pet. This lets you damage your own pets when you actually need to.
Why can't I hurt my pet even when I'm trying to?
The mod is protecting your pet from accidental damage. If you need to damage it intentionally, hold sneak while attacking, or disable protection for that specific pet in the configuration.
Does this mod protect pets from other players?
By default, no—other players can still damage your pets. Check the configuration file or use the guide 'Protect Pets from Other Players' Attacks' to enable this feature.
What happens to baby animals with this mod?
Baby animals are completely immune to all damage from all sources by default, preventing accidental kills of young mobs. You can disable this in the config if needed.
Can my pets hurt each other?
No, pets with the same owner cannot damage each other. This prevents your tamed mobs from fighting and killing one another during combat.
Does this mod work with pets from other mods?
Yes, it works with most modded pets, though some mods with custom pet systems may not be fully compatible. Check your mod's configuration if a specific pet isn't being protected.
Can I turn off protection for just one pet?
Yes, see the guide 'Disable Protection for a Specific Pet' for instructions on how to configure individual pet protection settings.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
No, the mod is lightweight and runs checks only when you attack, so it has minimal impact on performance even with many pets.
How do I disable all protections if I don't want them?
Open the mod's configuration file and disable the features you don't want. You can turn off pet protection, baby animal immunity, or pet-on-pet protection individually.
