Combining Fresh Animations: Player Extension with Other Resource Packs

Plan Your Pack Stack

Because resource packs apply top-down, plan the order before enabling anything. A reliable layout is: Player Extension at the very top, base Fresh Animations just below it, then texture packs, then vanilla. This keeps player animations from being overwritten while still letting texture packs change blocks and items.

Handle Player-Model Conflicts

Packs that alter player models, skins, capes, or armor are the main conflicts. If such a pack sits above the extension, it wins and animations disappear. Move the extension above it. If the other pack must stay on top, you may have to choose between its player changes and the animations.

Keep Texture Packs Below

Pure texture packs (blocks, items, GUI) rarely touch player animation files, so they can sit below the extension safely. Place them under the base Fresh Animations pack so animations take priority for player models while textures still apply elsewhere.

Test Incrementally

Enable packs one at a time and reload with F3 + T after each change. Watch a player walk and swing to confirm animations survive. This makes it obvious which pack breaks them.

Quick Reference

  • Extension: top.
  • Base Fresh Animations: directly below.
  • Texture packs: below the base pack.
  • Any player-model pack: below the extension, or expect conflicts.
