How to Tell Which Mobs Glow and Where to Test the Pack

Know What's Covered

The emissive pack doesn't glow every mob — it targets specific creatures with animated features. Covered groups include:

  • Water mobs: Drowned, Guardians, Elder Guardians
  • Cave mobs: Bats, Bogged skeletons
  • Nether mobs: Piglins, Hoglins, Ghasts
  • Overworld hostiles: Wolves and Bees (red glow when attacking)

If a mob isn't on this list, it won't glow, and that's normal — not a bug.

Where to Test Each One

  • Drowned and Guardians: find an ocean monument or a river at night. Guardians spawn around monuments; Drowned spawn in water and on shores.
  • Strays and Bogged: Strays appear in snowy biomes and from trial-chamber-adjacent spawns; Bogged appear in trial chambers and swamp-adjacent areas. Both read well in low light.
  • Bats: any dark cave. They're common and easy to spot with the glow.
  • Piglins, Hoglins, Ghasts: the Nether. Ghasts are the easiest to confirm from a distance.
  • Wolves and Bees: provoke one (hit a wolf, or break a bee nest) and watch for the red attack glow.

Reading the Effect Correctly

The glow shows best in darkness — bright daylight or a torch-lit room will hide it. Test at night or underground, and remember the glow is a visual highlight, not a real light source, so it won't illuminate the ground around the mob.
