Look Around While Flying with Elytra
Setup
Elytra flight is one of the best uses for FreeLook. You can now scout terrain, track mobs, or admire the landscape without losing momentum or changing direction.
How to Use
1. Equip your elytra and launch into the air
2. Hold down your FreeLook key (Left Alt by default) while flying
3. Move your mouse to look in any direction—your character continues flying forward
4. Release the key to snap your view back to your flight direction
5. Use this to check for obstacles to your sides or below without banking
Tips
- FreeLook doesn't affect your acceleration or momentum, so you can look around freely without losing speed
- This is especially useful when gliding through tight spaces or following a specific flight path
- Combine with your movement keys to adjust direction while still looking elsewhere
- In multiplayer, other players will only see your character facing forward—your freelook view is client-side only
