How to Send Bedrock Forms to Players Through Floodgate

What Forms Are

Forms are Bedrock's native UI popups — buttons, dropdowns, and input fields. Floodgate exposes an API that lets server plugins send these forms to Bedrock players, giving them a proper touch-friendly menu instead of chat commands. Java players can't see forms, so any plugin using them should fall back to chat or inventory GUIs for Java clients.

For Server Owners Using Form Plugins

You don't write code yourself — you install a plugin that already supports Floodgate's form API, such as a shop, menu, or warp plugin with Bedrock support. Once Floodgate is running, those plugins detect Bedrock players automatically and show the form UI. Make sure the plugin is built against a Floodgate version compatible with yours, and that Floodgate is loaded before the form plugin so the API is available at startup.

For Developers Testing Forms

Call the Floodgate API from your plugin to check whether a player is a Bedrock client, then send the form only to them. Always provide a Java-friendly alternative path. Test on an actual Bedrock device, because forms render differently than chat and button labels can truncate on small screens. If a form doesn't appear, verify the player is genuinely connected through Geyser and that your plugin isn't sending the form before the player has fully spawned.
