Flatter Entities Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the flattening effect for mobs?
The mod is enabled by default once installed. All mobs will automatically render as 2D models. If they don't appear flattened, check the Troubleshoot Mobs Not Appearing Flattened guide.
Can I make certain mobs look normal again?
Yes, open the config file and add specific mob names to the blacklist. See the Blacklist Specific Mobs from Being Flattened guide for step-by-step instructions.
How do I disable the mod in the Nether or End?
Edit the config file and add the dimension names to the dimension blacklist. The Disable the Mod for Specific Dimensions guide walks you through this process.
Do flattened mobs still work the same in combat?
Yes, flattened mobs behave identically to normal mobs—they deal the same damage, have the same health, and drop the same items. The change is purely visual.
Will this mod work on a multiplayer server?
The mod works on servers, but each player needs it installed on their client to see the flattened effect. For consistent server-wide settings, see the Create a Custom Configuration for Multiplayer Servers guide.
Why do some mobs still look 3D?
They may be blacklisted in your config, or there could be a conflict with another mod. Check your config file and review the Troubleshoot Mobs Not Appearing Flattened guide.
Does this affect performance?
The mod has minimal performance impact since it only changes how mobs are rendered, not how they function. Most players notice no FPS difference.
Can I whitelist mobs instead of blacklisting them?
Yes, the config file supports both whitelist and blacklist modes. You can choose to flatten only specific mobs by using whitelist mode instead.
Do flattened mobs look the same from all angles?
Flattened mobs are rendered as 2D sprites that always face the player, similar to the original 2019 April Fool's joke. They will rotate to face you as you move around them.
What happens if I update my mod?
Your config file should be preserved, but check it after updating to ensure your blacklist and whitelist settings are still intact.
