How to Make the Cursor Change Based on What You Hover
Understanding Adaptive Cursors
The mod's main feature is that the cursor swaps depending on context — hovering a button, dragging a slider, editing text, or interacting with in-game elements each can have its own cursor. This is automatic; you do not assign contexts by hand for the built-in set.
Getting the Most Out of It
1. Pick a default cursor in the Cursors Extended settings — this is what shows when no context matches.
2. Pick the contextual variants the mod offers for the states you care about, such as hover, click, and text entry.
3. Test by moving across a menu: buttons, sliders, and text boxes should each trigger their assigned cursor.
If a context never changes, either no variant is assigned to it or your resource pack does not supply one for that state. Assigning a variant in the settings overrides the fallback for that state only.
When It Does Not Switch
Make sure the pack providing the contextual cursor is enabled and above any pack that might override it. Conflicting packs can cause one to win for a given state. If you use a custom pack, verify it actually includes the contextual files and not just a single default cursor — many simple packs only replace the arrow and therefore never change on hover.
