Cursors Extended Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn the custom cursors on or off?
Open the mod's settings through Mod Menu or the in-game options screen and toggle the cursor replacement setting. Disabling it restores the vanilla system cursor without uninstalling the mod.
Why is my cursor still the normal one after installing?
The mod's cursor replacement is likely disabled in its config, or another mod that overrides the cursor is loading after it. Check the mod's settings first, then look for conflicting cursor or UI mods.
How do I make the cursor change when I hover over buttons?
Adaptive cursors are handled automatically once the mod is active, but you need the context rules enabled in settings. If hovering doesn't change anything, make sure adaptive/contextual cursors aren't turned off in the config.
Can I use my own cursor images?
Yes, the mod supports resource packs, so you can drop custom cursor textures into a pack and load it like any other. Animated cursors work too as long as the texture is set up as an animation.
Where do I put custom cursor textures in a resource pack?
Place them in the mod's expected cursor folder inside your pack's assets directory, matching the file names the mod looks for. If the names don't match, the mod falls back to its default cursor.
Does this mod work on servers or only singleplayer?
It's a client-side mod, so it works anywhere you play, including multiplayer servers. Other players won't see your cursor, and servers don't need it installed.
Will Cursors Extended Mod cause lag or lower my FPS?
Cursor rendering is lightweight and shouldn't noticeably affect performance. If you do see issues, try disabling animated cursors, since animation frames are the heaviest part.
Is it compatible with other UI or cursor mods?
It generally works alongside most mods, but another mod that also replaces the cursor can conflict and cause flickering or the wrong cursor to show. Disable cursor overrides in one of them if that happens.
How do I add my own cursors with the Java API?
Register your cursor through the mod's API by defining the cursor and assigning it to a context or action. You'll need to reference the API from your own mod and register during initialization.
My custom cursor isn't showing up, what did I do wrong?
The most common causes are a wrong file path, a mismatched file name, or the resource pack not being enabled. Double-check the folder structure and confirm the pack is active in your resource pack list.
