Fixing the Bell Not Ringing While Fishing

Check the Offhand First

If the bell is silent when a fish bites, the most common cause is that the bell is not actually in your offhand. The mod only plays the bite sound when a bell is held there, because mustHoldBellInOffhand defaults to true. Open your inventory and confirm the bell sits in the offhand slot, not the hotbar or main inventory.

• Move the bell to the offhand slot and recast.
• Make sure your fishing rod is in your main hand, not the offhand.
• If you swapped items with F, verify the swap actually happened.

Check the Config

If the bell is definitely in your offhand and you still hear nothing, the config may have been changed. Look for the mustHoldBellInOffhand option in the mod's config file or config screen.

• If it is true, the bell must be in the offhand for the sound to play.
• If it is false, the bite sound plays without needing a bell at all, so a missing bell is not the problem.

Also confirm your game volume and any sound-related mods are not muting the bell. Test by casting in calm water and waiting for a bite.
