Tuning Fire Burn Time and Randomness in the Fire Spread Tweaks Config

What each setting controls

The config exposes four knobs. timeFireBurnsInTicks sets the base burn duration (default 300 ticks, about 15 seconds). enableRandomizedFireDuration toggles whether that base time is varied per fire. minRandomExtraBurnTicks and maxRandomExtraBurnTicks define how many extra ticks get added or subtracted when randomization is on — negative values shorten the burn, positive values lengthen it.

Choosing values for your playstyle

1. For a cozy, realistic feel, keep randomization on and use a modest range so fires flicker out at slightly different times. A small negative-to-positive spread gives that unpredictable look.

2. For fast cleanup after explosions or lightning, set timeFireBurnsInTicks low and disable randomization so every fire dies at the same moment.

3. For dramatic, long-lasting blazes on non-special blocks, raise the base time and allow a positive-only random range so fires never die too quickly.

4. After editing, save the config and reload the world (or restart the game) so the new values apply. Existing fires keep their old timer until they go out.

5. Test by igniting a few blocks in a creative test world and watching how long each flame lasts before tweaking further.

Remember: none of these settings affect fire on netherrack, magma, or soul sand — those always burn forever.
