How to Stop Fire from Spreading Across Your Base in Fire Spread Tweaks
Why fire still spreads sometimes
Fire Spread Tweaks sets doFireTick to false when the world loads, which stops vanilla fire from jumping to neighboring blocks. If fire is still spreading, the gamerule was likely re-enabled by another mod, a datapack, or a manual command after load. Check it first.
Steps to lock fire down
1. Run /gamerule doFireTick false in chat. This is the same value the mod applies on world load, so re-applying it is safe.
2. Place a test fire on a wood plank next to a wool block. It should burn out without igniting the wool.
3. If you want fire to vanish faster so it never lingers near builds, open the mod's config and lower timeFireBurnsInTicks. The default is 300 ticks (15 seconds); a smaller value means shorter-lived flames.
4. Turn on enableRandomizedFireDuration if you want burn times to vary, then tune minRandomExtraBurnTicks and maxRandomExtraBurnTicks to widen or narrow that spread.
5. Remember that netherrack, magma, and soul sand ignore the timer entirely — fire on those blocks burns forever. Keep them away from flammable builds or fence them off.
With doFireTick off and a short burn timer, a stray spark on your roof will fizzle out instead of eating the whole house.
