Scan Your First Entity and Unlock a Field Guide Entry

Equip and Aim Your Spyglass

Hold a spyglass in your main hand. Look through it by right-clicking (or holding the designated key) to enter zoom mode. The spyglass now acts as your discovery tool.

Target and Scan

While zoomed, aim at a plant, animal, or monster you haven't scanned before. Keep the crosshair centered on your target for a moment until a scan completes—you'll see a visual or audio confirmation.

Check Your Field Guide

Open your Field Guide (check your inventory or use the keybind shown in controls). A new entry for the scanned entity will appear in the appropriate category. The entry includes the entity's name, any lore notes added by the server admin, and details about when you discovered it.

Repeat to Build Your Collection

Each new scan adds to your personal guide. Scanning the same entity type again won't unlock a duplicate—progress is tracked per unique entity. Your discoveries are saved to the server, so they persist across sessions.
