Maintain Performance While Generating Ruins

Understand the Performance Balance

This patch allows Fastcraft's optimizations to remain active while Bare Ruins generates structures. Without it, you'd need to disable Fastcraft entirely to avoid crashes. The patch preserves both features simultaneously.

Monitor Chunk Generation Speed

When exploring new terrain, you may notice slight slowdowns as ruins generate. This is normal—structure placement requires additional calculations. If lag becomes severe, it's usually caused by other mods, not this patch.

Adjust Render Distance Carefully

Higher render distances load more chunks at once, which can strain performance during structure generation. If you experience stuttering while exploring, lower your render distance by 2–4 chunks and gradually increase it until you find a stable setting.

Use Fastcraft's Built-in Options

Fastcraft includes its own performance tweaks. Ensure they're enabled in your config files. The patch doesn't disable these settings—it simply allows them to coexist with Bare Ruins without conflicts.

Allocate Sufficient RAM

Structure generation uses more memory than vanilla terrain. Ensure your Java heap allocation is adequate for your modpack size.
