Building a Large Painting Gallery Without Lag
Plan the Wall First
Before placing anything, build a flat wall of full solid blocks. Paintings only attach to complete block faces, so avoid mixing in slabs, stairs, or glass where you want art. A single large flat surface also lets the game choose bigger painting variants, which look better in a gallery.
Filling the Gallery
1. Start at one corner and place paintings outward in a grid pattern.
2. Break and replace any painting whose random size does not fit your layout — the game rerolls the variant each time.
3. Leave the wall clear of item frames and signs, since those compete for the same block faces.
4. For very large halls, build in sections and check performance as you go rather than placing hundreds at once.
Keeping Performance Stable
This is exactly the scenario Fast Paintings targets: many paintings in one area. With the mod installed, a dense gallery should render far more cheaply than in vanilla. If you still notice drops, reduce other nearby entities such as armor stands or mobs, and make sure no other rendering mod is overriding painting batching. Keep lighting simple around the gallery to avoid compounding the load.
