How to Connect to a LAN or Home Server Without the Long Join Delay

Joining a server on your own network by IP is the exact case Fast IP Ping Mod was built for.

Add the server by its local IP

On the multiplayer screen, choose Add Server and enter the machine's local IP with the port your server uses. Do not type a hostname. Save it, then select it. With the mod installed, the client skips the reverse lookup, so the connecting screen should move to the world much faster than before.

Verify the mod is doing the work

If the join still stalls, open the mod menu and confirm Fast IP Ping Mod is enabled. Also double-check you did not accidentally save a domain name in the address field, because the mod only bypasses the lookup for direct IPs. Re-edit the entry if needed.

Troubleshooting a stuck connection

If the ping shows but joining hangs, the problem is likely the server itself, not the lookup. Make sure the server is running, the port is open, and your firewall allows the connection. The mod only removes the name-resolution delay; it cannot fix a server that is offline or unreachable. Once the server is reachable, joining by IP should feel noticeably quicker.
