Fast Hoppers Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I make hoppers faster?
Use the command `/gamerule hopperTickSpeed [number]` to set how many ticks pass between transfers. Lower numbers = faster hoppers; for example, 4 ticks is twice as fast as the default 8 ticks.
What's the fastest hopper speed I can set?
You can set hopperTickSpeed to 1 tick for maximum speed, but this may cause lag on servers or systems with many hoppers. Test performance before going below 4 ticks on multiplayer.
Can I move more than one item per transfer?
Yes, use `/gamerule hopperItemsPerTransfer [1-64]` to set how many items move in each transfer. Higher values let you move bulk items faster but consume more resources per tick.
Do faster hoppers use more server resources?
Yes—faster tick speeds and higher item counts per transfer increase CPU load. If your server lags, try increasing hopperTickSpeed or reducing hopperItemsPerTransfer.
How do I reset hoppers to normal speed?
Run `/gamerule hopperTickSpeed 8` and `/gamerule hopperItemsPerTransfer 1` to restore default behavior.
Can I set different speeds for different hoppers?
No, gamerules apply globally to all hoppers in the world. The mod adjusts speed for every hopper at once.
Will this mod work with other storage mods?
Fast Hoppers only affects vanilla hoppers. Hoppers from other mods may not be affected unless they use vanilla hopper code.
Can I use this mod on a multiplayer server?
Yes, but set gamerules on the server side and all players will experience the same hopper speeds. Discuss settings with your admin before changing them.
What happens if I set hopperTickSpeed to 0?
A value of 0 would cause hoppers to transfer every tick, which is the absolute maximum speed but will likely cause severe lag—avoid this on servers.
Can I make hoppers intentionally slower for redstone contraptions?
Yes, increase hopperTickSpeed to a higher number like 16 or 32 to slow transfers down for precise timing in redstone builds.
