How to Reduce Lag When Taking High-Resolution Screenshots

Why It Stutters

Fabrishot renders a single frame at a much higher resolution than your screen. That means the game has to draw far more pixels in one go, which causes a visible pause. The mod is designed to keep this brief, but the pause scales with the resolution you set.

Lower the Capture Resolution

Open Fabrishot's config through Mod Menu and Cloth Config, then reduce the width and height values. Halving each dimension cuts the pixel count dramatically and shortens the freeze. If you only need a slightly sharper image than vanilla, a modest bump over your screen resolution is enough.

Prepare the Scene First

  • Let all nearby chunks load fully before capturing, so the game is not also loading terrain during the shot.
  • Close other heavy programs running in the background to free up memory and CPU.
  • Avoid capturing during weather, mob-heavy fights, or while particles are dense, since those add extra rendering work.

Capture When Stable

Stand still, look at your subject, and press F9 once. Do not spam the key — each press triggers a full high-resolution render. If the freeze is still too long, lower the resolution again and retest until the pause is acceptable for your machine.
