How to Load a Skin from a URL or Player Name
Player Name Method
The simplest source is an existing Minecraft account name. Open the skin menu with the keybind (default K) or run /skin <playerName>. The mod looks up that account's current skin and applies it to you. This is useful when you want to match a friend, cosplay a known character, or reuse a skin you already own on another account.
URL Method
If you have a direct link to a skin PNG, use the URL field in the menu or pass it to /skin. The image must be a valid skin texture file hosted somewhere reachable. Paste the full link, confirm, and the mod downloads and applies it. If the link breaks later, your skin may revert, so prefer stable hosts or switch to a local file.
HD Skins
Fabric Tailor supports high-resolution textures. Players who also have the mod installed will see your HD skin; players without it will see a vanilla-resolution fallback. Keep this in mind on public servers where most players are unmodded.
Capes
When your chosen source has an associated cape, the mod can fetch it automatically. You can also upload a custom cape from local storage through the same menu. Capes are handled separately from skins, so you can mix a URL skin with a local cape.
Troubleshooting
If a URL skin does not appear, check that the link ends in a valid image format and is publicly accessible. Try the player name method as a fallback.
