How to Change Your Skin In-Game with Fabric Tailor

Using the Keybind

Press the skin menu key (default K) while in a world to open the Fabric Tailor screen. From here you can switch between three input modes: player name, direct URL, and local file. Pick the mode, enter or select your source, and confirm. Your skin updates immediately without a reconnect.

Using the /skin Command

If you prefer typing, run /skin <playerName> to pull a skin from an existing Minecraft account, or /skin <url> to load a direct image link. The command works the same way as the GUI and is handy for macros or chat-based workflows. If you only want to change your cape, use the cape option in the same menu rather than the skin fields.

Local Files

For a custom skin stored on your computer, choose the local file option in the menu and browse to the PNG. This is the fastest route for skins you have already downloaded and avoids relying on a URL staying online. Once applied, the skin persists for that world until you change it again.

If Nothing Happens

Make sure you are in a world, not the main menu. On servers, your skin may only be visible to other modded clients; vanilla players will see your default skin. If a URL fails, try a different host or switch to a local file.
