How to Tell If a Mod Is Compatible With Fabric Loader

Reading Mod Metadata

Not every Minecraft mod works with Fabric. Fabric Loader loads mods built against the Fabric toolchain, so a mod made for another loader will not run here. On a mod's download page, look for a Fabric badge or a note listing supported loaders. Check the supported Minecraft versions too, since a mod built for a different game version may crash or silently fail.

Checking Dependencies

Many Fabric mods depend on Fabric API, and some depend on other mods. The download page usually lists required dependencies. If you skip them, the loader will report a missing dependency error instead of launching. When you place jars in the mods folder, keep filenames unchanged so version checks work correctly.

Testing Safely

Install one new mod at a time and launch the game to confirm it loads. If the game crashes, read the log file in your .minecraft logs folder; it names the mod that caused the failure. Remove that jar and try again. Mixing mods from different loaders in the same folder is a common cause of crashes, so keep your Fabric mods folder free of non-Fabric jars.
