How to Stop a Running Pregeneration Safely

When to Stop

You may want to halt pregeneration because you picked too large a radius, the server needs the resources back, or you simply have enough terrain generated. Because only one pregeneration runs at a time, you must stop the current one before starting a new one.

The Stop Command

Run /pregen stop. The mod halts the process and displays the amount completed so far. Chunks that were already generated are saved — stopping does not delete or roll back progress. You can resume later by starting a new pregeneration over the same area; already-generated chunks are effectively skipped or regenerated quickly since the terrain data exists.

Check Before You Assume It Stopped

After stopping, run /pregen status to confirm nothing is still running. If you are unsure whether a process is active, status is the reliable check. If you plan to restart with a different radius, stop first, then issue a fresh /pregen start.

Practical Tip

If you are stopping to free up server performance for a busy play session, do it during low activity. Pregeneration is disk and CPU heavy, so stopping before peak hours keeps tick rates stable for everyone online.
