How to Pregenerate Chunks Around Your Base or Spawn

Pick a Center Point

Stand exactly where you want the center of your pregeneration area to be. The pregenerator builds a square region centered on your current position, so your coordinates at the moment you run the command matter. If you want to cover spawn, teleport or walk there first.

Start the Pregeneration

Run /pregen start <radius>, replacing <radius> with the distance in chunks from the center to each edge. Remember the region is a square measured from the edge on all sides, so a radius of 10 produces a 20×20 chunk area. Choose a radius that covers the area you actually play in — a smaller radius finishes faster and uses less disk space.

Monitor and Finish

Use /pregen status at any time to see how many chunks have been completed. Only one pregeneration can run at a time, so if you try to start another while one is active it will not begin. When you are satisfied or need to stop early, run /pregen stop. It halts the process and reports how much was completed, and everything generated so far is kept.

Why Bother

Pregenerating means terrain, structures, and mob spawning are already resolved before players explore, which reduces lag spikes when someone crosses into new territory.
