How to Choose the Right Radius for Pregeneration

Understand the Shape

This mod pregenerates a square, not a circle. The radius is the distance in chunks from the center to each edge, so a radius of 10 creates a 20×20 region. This matters because corners extend farther from your base than the sides do, and the total area grows with the square of the radius.

Match Radius to Playstyle

For a small survival base, a modest radius covering your immediate surroundings is usually enough. For a server where players roam, you want a radius large enough that nobody hits ungenerated terrain during normal play. Because the region is square, pick a radius that reaches the farthest point players are likely to travel from the center.

Balance Time and Disk

Bigger radii mean more chunks, more time, and more storage. Start smaller than you think you need, check progress with /pregen status, and expand later with another run if necessary. You cannot run two jobs at once, so plan a single sensible radius rather than many overlapping ones.

Center It Well

Since the area is centered on you when you start, position yourself at the true middle of where you want coverage. If your base sits at the edge of the region instead of the center, half your radius is wasted on terrain you will never visit.
